XYRATEX SYSTEM 640 MULTI-PORT TEST SYSTEMS
This
Xyratex System 640 is a 6 port/ 6 drive test system that is self-contained, with suitable cooling, occupying a small footprint, controlled by a suitable PC able to test, tape, hard drives, CD / DVD's and optical drive via IDE / ATAPI and SCSI interfaces. Note: Up to 15 drives may be connected at any one time to each SCSI port. The system is supplied with all necessary software for the above actions, and the interface with the controlling computer can be either Ethernet or via the Com port.
Programmable Voltage Margining
Complex electronics of a disk drive can be sensitive to variations in supply voltage levels. It is important in testing that both a consistent and accurate voltage is used. The Xyratex Voltage Margining card within the test equipment provides an accurate, repeatable, and noise free supply during test. In addition both the 12V and 5V voltages can be modified independently to +-10% of their nominal values, in 1% steps. These features are all programmable from the Talos test software, thus giving the test programmer the ability to define tests to find voltage sensitive drives, and help debug integration issues.

SCSI TEST EQUIPMENT
The Xyratex Talos and Zadian SCSI Test Systems units comes in a standalone desktop format, and up to 250 units can be connected per system (controlled by a PC) using the RS-232 port,. with an optional separate power charger for the test unit power source. * (Separate power feed is needed for the drives being tested, this power is only supplied with the margining power supply which supplies power for one drive only)
There are several types of SCSI systems available, the Zadian Pod which can be SCSI Std and SCSI-Wide, and
Xyratex Talos Pod which is available in Fast 20, Ultra 2, and now Ultra 160 SCSI types.
Maximum quantity of drives that can be tested at any one time - SCSI Std unit - 7, SCSI Wide unit - 15, Ultra SCSI unit - 15
By using different converters, all pin configuration SCSI drives can be tested, including 2.5 drives, differential, SCA etc.
Power failure recovery is covered using battery backup in the unit, if required.

For Ultra SCSI, Low Voltage Differential (LVD) support is determined automatically and comes with a 68
pin P connector with optional P to A adapter for Narrow SCSI.
