The MFM300 is a solid state MFM/ST506/RLL interface hard drive emulation unit which comes in either a 3.5" or 5.25” frame format and can replace MFM/ST506/RLL drives of most capacities, models including:-

The SMDR-1 directly replaces the original disk drive with a drive emulator. SMDR-1 mimics the operation of the original drive, but actually stores data on a new SCSI drive. PLUG COMPATIBLE with 8-INCH DRIVES
No hardware or software modifications are required to upgrade to fast, reliable SCSI drives on existing computers. Unplug the existing disk drive and install the SMDR-1, using the same cables. Power for the unit is provided from the existing power supply - same as the old drive. Changes to the diagnostics or operating software are not necessary.
SMDR-1 SMD emulator replaces most 8-inch disk drives using the industry standard SMD to SMD-E interface. For systems using a drive control panel, an interface connector is provided on the SMDR-1. Adapters can be provided for the specific drive being replaced.
The SMDR-1 carries a 1 year warranty and uses Ultra SCSI disk drives for low maintenance operation. Many drives are rated in excess of 500,000 hours MTBF.
Model SMDR-1 is a direct replacement for 8 / 9 and 14-inch SMD disk drives used in numerous real-time and minicomputers. SMDR-1 uses the existing cables for data and control. Power is supplied from the existing power supply.
REDUCED POWER and COOLING nbsp;
SMDR-1 receives power from the existing supply. The unit uses significantly less power and runs cooler than 8-inch drives, thus reducing the power supply load. An adapter allows the SMDR-1 to plug into the present power supply connector.
